Where is Dinh Cau Temple located?
Dinh Cau Temple is perched atop a large rocky outcrop at the mouth of the Duong Dong River, in Quarter 2, Duong Dong Town, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang Province. Due to its prominent location, it’s also known as Dinh Cau Cape.

How to get to Dinh Cau Temple
Dinh Cau Temple is just a few hundred metres west of Duong Dong Town centre. Follow Tran Hung Dao Street until you reach the intersection with Vo Thi Sau Street, then continue to the end of the road. You’ll then see the path leading to Dinh Cau Night Market and Dinh Cau Cape. 
Path leading to Dinh Cau Temple Travelling by car or motorbike is the most convenient and cost-effective option, offering flexibility in your itinerary. However, taxis are also readily available. Note that the temple is open to visitors from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM daily.

The Legend of the Rock Emerging from the Sea:
Legend has it that fishermen caught in a fierce storm were guided to safety by a mystical rock that suddenly emerged from the sea. Believing it to be a sacred rock, the locals built a temple on it and named it Dinh Cau, praying for safe and prosperous voyages.

The Legend of the Sea Goddess and Her Two Sons:
The main hall of Dinh Cau Temple is dedicated to the Sea Goddess and her two sons, Cau Tai (Prince Talent) and Cau Quy (Prince Wealth). Folklore says that the two sons were fond of gambling and cockfighting, leading many gamblers to visit the temple seeking good luck and fortune.
The Legend of the Reclusive Preacher:
Local lore tells of a mysterious man who arrived in the early 20th century and secluded himself in a cave, sealing the entrance with stones. After two years, he emerged and began offering prophecies to those who visited the temple. On the 15th and 16th days of each lunar month, he would perform rituals and distribute amulets for good luck and protection. He eventually became known as “Cau” (Prince).

The peak hours are from 7:00 PM onwards. Duong Dong Market on Tran Phu Street, along the banks of the Duong Dong River, is another must-visit.
